Sleeping Peacefully

I spent some time with Nick tonight.

They need to keep him calm - so they have put him back on the sedatives to keep him from moving around so much.

They managed to stop the bleeding that started back up by changing some coagulation medications.

He just looks like he is resting comfortably for the most part. His face looks like him except for some red/bruising around the eyes and the goatee that happens to be growing below the tape that is keeping the respirator tube in.

His body temperture is good, BP good and sleeping peacefully. He had to be suctioned while I was there and there was a tinge of blood in the line but the nurse said that it is just a tinge not like it was before.

Got up to visit at the end of night. Nick looks much more like himself, swelling in face really subsiding. Swelling in extremities still prominent. Low grade temp tonite. Blood Pressure is stable.

He didn't open his eyes while I was there, but this was 9:15, and I'm sure he is exhausted.

He responds to everything I asked him appropriately. The nurse asked him if he was in pain, and Thank GOD he shook his head NO.

He has a good support of visitors and his amazing family by him thru all of this, it seems he is aware of this positive energy, and it can only be fueling this incredible fight he is giving.

Coming Around

I saw Nick last night and he was beginning to come around since they stopped his sedatives.

He is able to open his eyes slightly - which are red and swollen and probably sore. But it is good to seem them open just a bit.

He is able to hear you speak and nodded and shook his head in response to some questions.

He is beginning to cough a good bit now that he is more with it - which brings up some fluid occasionally - but its good to get that stuff out of there.

There are fewer machines monitoring him now as well - which is comforting to see.

His brother-in-law John played some voice recordings of Nick's niece and nephews for him to hear - since kids aren't allowed in the room - which was a good idea.

Hopefully he will continue to do better each day and fight each battle as it comes until he is healthy again.
